GPS data gives away alleged Vancouver iPhone Thief
According to the Vancouver cops, shortly after 8 p.m. February 15th, two men met in the 800 block of Cambie Street after arranging over the internet for one to purchase a laptop from the other. As the seller showed the purchaser the computer, the purchaser allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded both the laptop and the victim’s I-phone, running from the apartment.
The victim called 9-1-1 to report the robbery and officers arrived to find that the victim was able to track his stolen cell phone using the phone’s GPS capabilities. Officers with the victim were able to monitor the position of the phone and relay the location to other officers who were closing in on the suspect.
